On Tuesday March 11, the Sequoit baseball team faced off against Grant Community High School. In a heated match-up, the Sequoits felt the game was theirs going into the seventh inning tied 2-2. In the final inning, the game fell right through their hands with a few key mistakes; the game ended in a 3-2 defeat against the Bulldogs.

“Grant has been one of our biggest competitions,” junior Nick Sheren said. “They always play their best against us.”

With the start of conference play, the Sequoits know what they need to do.

“We have everything planned out,” Sheren said. “All we need to do is execute. We’ve got the players to be great.”

In the new conference, the NLCC, conference teams play a series of three games each week against the same conference team. This week is know by the baseball players to be “Grant week.”

The Sequoits play the Bulldogs again on Wednesday March 12, and Thursday March 13. They are hoping to play their A-game as the season goes on and conference play continues.
