Injuries can happen in the blink of an eye. Sometimes there is no way to prevent injuries, but a method to decrease the chance of injury is to lift weights. Lifting is vital to athletes when it comes to performing well on the field and staying on the field. Lifting alone will not save players from injury. However, it is the lifts that they choose to do and also how much they lift that will make a difference. If there is an athlete that only focuses on the core muscles by doing lifts like bench and squat, they will have a higher chance of getting injured than those who choose to workout all of the smaller muscles as well.

“Lifting is crucial for those that want to participate in athletics,”assistant football coach Jordan Eder said. “Not only do you need to be strong to be able to compete with the other schools, but it helps with injury prevention as well.”

Lifting weights does not just make people stronger, but it also decreases the chance of getting injured and increases the performance of athletes on the field.
