REVIEW: UFC 196

With a great fight card set for UFC 196, the outcome of the main events were even greater.

On Saturday, March 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena UFC 196 was underway.

With a stacked fight card having Featherweight Champ Conor McGregor face Nate Diaz and Bantamweight Champ Holly Holm defend her belt to a hungry Miesha Tate, it was sure to be a great night.

But, what made the card even more exciting, was that Nate Diaz stepped into the card 11 days before the fight due to Rafael Dos Anjos breaking his foot during training. With Diaz’s short notice, McGregor jumping two weight classes to fight Diaz, and both fighters being notorious for their trash talk,  fans couldn’t get anymore antsy for the fight.

UFC 196 was nothing less than shocking though. Being a night full of submissions, both champions lost due to a rear naked choke and McGregor lost his undefeated title. Although that title may have fell through, McGregor’s belt was not on the line due to not fighting in his weight class, and still remains Featherweight Champ.

With the outcome of UFC 196, there is much controversy on what will be the next move for these fighters. Will Mcgregor defend his belt in a rematch with Jose Aldo, the former Featherweight Champ? Will Diaz now fight for the Welterweight title? Will Tate defend her belt against the eager Ronda Rousey or will Rousey seek revenge on Holm? All UFC fans can do is wait to see how things will pan out and enjoy UFC 197, Cormier vs Jones 2, which will definitely be a fight to watch.
