On Saturday September 17, the Sequoit girls volleyball team played six matches at the Top Flight Volleyball invitational. Thanks in large part to aggressive offensive play, the lady Sequoits were able to win their first five matches leading them to the championship game against Elgin High School. After fighting hard for a win, the lady Sequoits could not pull away a victory against Elgin High School, finishing in second place in a 16 school tournament.

“We improved as the tournament went on,” senior captain Erika Gallimore said. “One of our girls got hurt so we were motivated to win for her.”

According to Gallimore, the Sequoits main source of improvement was on their communication.

“Communication was the one thing we really needed to improve on,” Gallimore said. “we did a really good job of communicating with each other at this tournament.”

The lady Sequoits are hoping to keep up with their high intensity play as the season goes on and win more games and tournaments.
