In a game that started off as a disaster, the Sequoit Varsity softball team managed to come out with a 11-10 win against the Grant Bulldogs; improving their record to 3-0. Down a whopping 10-2, the Sequoits were in need of some motivation.

“At one point we were really struggling in field,” senior Carlie Gaylord said. “Rocco talked to all of us and told us that we are way better than this and we needed to get our heads up and start hitting.”

And that is exactly what the Sequoits did.

Senior Jillian Foote went 5-for-5 with two huge home runs for the team. Senior Ashley Stephens also hit a 3-run homer followed by a 2-run double by Annie Wagner in the bottom of the 4th. This proved to be a huge inning for the Sequoits who scored six runs and brought the score to 10-8.

In the bottom of the 7th, with the score at 10-10, senior Stephanie Bonaguidi drove in the game’s winning run marking the team’s comeback official; a 11-10 win.

“It proved that we never give up and we can all come together to pick each other up and help finish the game with a win,” Gaylord said.

Gaylord ended up tacking on a double to add on to the team’s 16 hits. This is a perfect representation on how a game is never over until the last out.
