Everything that happens in life is stored in one’s brain, tucked away for another time. There are some memories that slowly fade over time or fade right away. Then there are some memories that stick with a person for years down the road; memories that they can look back on and laugh at and also memories that helped to shape them into the person they are today. For sports teams, such as cross country and track, seem to do enough team bonding to last a lifetime.

The best part about running are the friends that a person makes and all of the memories that they then get to share years from now. Senior Danielle Tebbe’s favorite memories from running throughout high school have been the pasta parties.

“The pasta parties are just really fun,” Tebbe said. “You get to hang out with all of your teammates and eat a bunch of pasta the night before a meet.”

Each pasta party is different based on who is hosting it and who is going. Sometimes they take place outside and other times they are restricted to inside.

Senior Rylie Mercer loves the fact that she has made lifelong friendships from running.

“My favorite part about running is that it is relaxing and I get to spend time with my friends,” Mercer said.

Running is so much more than just a sport. Running is a lifestyle that junior Alexandria Knight thinks that everybody should give a try.

“I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for running,” Knight said. “I love the friends that I’ve made through it.”
