On September 9, Apple announced their new products launching this fall. This announcement included the Apple Watch Series 2 release, everything about iOS 10, new wireless earbuds called Air Pods, new apps and the most anticipated for Apple users: the iPhone 7 specs, release dates and pre-order dates.

There were some big changes to the upcoming iPhone and iPhone Plus model. One big feature and a big selling point for this latest model would be the new camera systems in the phones. The iPhone 7 will have an upgraded camera with minimal tweaking from the last model (the iPhone 6S) with a 12mp camera change and new True Tone Flash. The biggest camera change is on the 7 Plus model with the Dual Lens camera system which combines a Telephoto Lens and a Wide-Angle lens to shoot the perfect picture, regardless of the lighting.

Another big change is not an addition but a modification: the 3.5mm headphone jack is no longer going to be apart of the iPhone arsenal. People are skeptical of this new change.

“It’ll be a big change to get used to,” senior Daren Roman said. “I do not think it will benefit the product overall in the long run.”

One big reason for the missing headphone jack would be a bigger battery increase. Not only that, but the packaging for the iPhone 7 will come with a Lighting Cord adaptor to be compatible with any device still using the headphone jack.

These changes have mostly affected iPhone users.

“I have had an Android for a while, so the new iPhone updates don’t really affect me,” senior Brooke Menzies said.

Regardless of the public’s opinions on the new updates, the release is set for September 16.
