Five New Albums in 2020

With the start of the new year many artists have either announced or released new music for their fans to enjoy.

Of these five albums, these are the three that have been released so far. Each cover proves itself to be beautiful in simplicity to match each album.

Selena Gomez: Rare

Gomez’s latest album Rare was released on January 10, 2020 consisting of 13 songs. Rare is Gomez’s third solo album. The third song on the album “Look at Her Now” was released as a single the day after “Lose You To Love Me” was released. “Look at Her Know” was a big hit and made it to the top twenty on The Rolling Stones Top 100. The fourth song on the album “Lose You To Love Me” was released months before Rare as a single and topped the Billboard 100, being her first number-one single in the United States.

Mac Miller: Circles

Miller’s sixth album Circles came out on January 17, 2020. Miller was working on Circles around the time of his death in 2018 and was planning on releasing it as a companion album to “Swimming”, his earlier album. These two albums together were meant to convey the phrase “swimming in circles.”

Antioch Community High School sophomore Paul Adams has been a fan of Mac Miller and recently listened to Circles. Adams shares his thoughts on the album and Miller’s career.

“Miller’s old projects put him on the map for a good reason,” Adams said. “I like his new album because it really brings out the chill and sad vibes he gives throughout all of his music.”

Circles consists of 12 songs, with the eighth song featuring hip-hop/rap artist Baro Sura. Circles discusses a lot of Miller’s personal problems and mental state, specifically on the eleventh song of the album, “Surf.

Halsey: Manic

Halsey released her new album Manic on January 17 2020. Manic is Halsey’s third studio album and is made up of 15 songs, including her 2018 Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit “Without Me”. Halsey collaborates with a few different artists on Manic, including Suga from BTS, Dominic Fike and Alanis Morissette. On Manic, Halsey dips into several different styles of music including pop, R&B, alternative rock and country pop. According to Billboard, Halsey had to dive into parts of herself that weren’t fully healed when creating Manic and this album is her most personal and rewarding one yet.

Kesha: High Road

Kesha’s new album High Road is set to be released on January 31, 2020. It is Kesha’s fourth studio album, consisting of 16 songs, one of them being a Japanese bonus track. Three out of the 15 songs were released as singles months before the album. Kesha’s last album “Rainbow” debuted as number one on the Billboard 200 albums, with the lead single “Praying” receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Solo Performance. According to Billboard, Kesha has had the most fun she has ever had creating High Road and hopes that her fans love it just as much as she does.

J.Cole: The Fall Off

Cole announced that he has been working on an official follow-up album to his 2018 album KOD. Around the time that KOD dropped, Cole revealed that he has been working on The Fall Off since 2016. ACHS junior Logan Phillips has been a huge Cole fan since his first album was released back in 2014.

“I’m excited for this album because I did not think his album in 2018 was that good and I’m hoping this one will be better,” Phillips said. “I think this album will be better than his other ones because he has taken a lot of criticism to make it the best it can be.”

The Fall Off does not have an official release date yet, although it will be out sometime in 2020.

One thing that all of these artists have in common is their albums coming out in 2020. Make sure to watch for their release.
