SBN Investigates: School Violence & Safety

When the mass shooting happened at Stoneman Douglas on February 14th, students across the nation were stunned. We were confused. We were saddened. We were horrified.

When we returned to school the following morning, we were encouraged to talk about the shooting and its surrounding issues in our classes. As a staff, SBN decided to research and attempt to find an answer to all of the unanswered questions that students were attempting to understand. We wanted to find an answer, but, more importantly, we wanted to better understand the debate upon which our country was embarking.

These videos are all driven by student-generated questions. We understand how sensitive this topic is, and viewer discretion is advised.

Andrew Hare is a senior at Antioch Community High School and the Executive Producer for Sequoit Broadcast Network. He is excited to broadcast new school shows and have a fun and eventful school year in SBN. His interests include, football, basketball, and hanging with his friends.

Miranda Karellas, SBN, Managing Editor

Miranda Karellas is a senior at Antioch Community High School. This is her second year in Sequoit Broadcast Network and is now the Managing Editor. She loves to make fun, exciting, and amazing videos with her best friend Amanda Rowe, preferably music videos. She really enjoys watching America’s Got Talent youtube videos, playing on club penguin, and going hiking in the mountains.

Amanda Rowe, SBN, Publicity and Social Media Chair

Amanda Rowe is a senior at Antioch Community High School. This is her second year as a member of Sequoit Broadcast Network. As the Publicity and Social Media Chair, she looks forward to promoting the program and spreading the word. She has a lot of fun in Sequoit Broadcast Network and hopes her videos keep improving. Her interests include volleyball, track, and hanging with her best friend Miranda Karellas.

Sean Weiser, SBN, Broadcast Journalist

Sean Weiser is a junior at Antioch Community High School, and this is his second year in the Sequoit Broadcast Network as a Broadcast Journalist. Sean has always been interested in editing and making videos, and is ready to learn something new. His interests include baseball, and he is a part of the Antioch Baseball Team as well as the travel organization The Northern Knights.

Eric Hart, SBN, Studio Manager

Eric Hart is a junior at Antioch Community High School. Because this is his second year in Sequoit Broadcast Network, he wanted to get more involved and has earned the role of Studio Manager. Eric enjoys running and is a part of the varsity cross country team. He also enjoys baseball and loves all of his teammates. Friends are a huge part of his life and he hopes to make more in this class.

Drew Smith, SBN, Broadcast Journalist

Drew Smith is a junior at Antioch Community High School. This is his second year as a Broadcast Journalist for Sequoit Broadcast Network. He enjoys editing and is intrigued by the video making process. His interests include talking to friends and playing sports. He also plays football, wrestles, and runs track.

Nick Galante, SBN, Broadcast Journalist

Nick Galante is a senior a Antioch Community High School. This is his first year in Sequoit Broadcast Network. This year, he is eager to learn more about the video production process and publishing them for the school. His interests include basketball, tennis, and breathing.

Brandon Reynolds, Tom Tom Staff

Brandon Reynolds is a Junior at Antioch Community High School. This is Brandon’s first year in Tom Tom. He is very excited to see where Tom Tom takes him, and can’t wait to build new friendships. Brandon’s favorite things to do include playing football and lacrosse, along with hanging out with his friends. His favorite quote is "I'm going to make the rest of my life, the best of my life."

Justin Jones is a junior at Antioch Community High school and this is his first year in the Sequoit Broadcast Network. Justin joined the network because he has always been interested in journalism.

Joseph Karolewicz is a senior at Antioch Community High School. This is Joseph’s first year in Sequoit Broadcast Network. He is eager to learn more about broadcast and everything involved with it. His interests include football, spending time with family, hanging out with friends, and traveling to exotic places.

Jackie Sistrunk, SBN, Broadcast Journalist

Jackie Sistrunk is a junior at Antioch Community High School. It is his first year in Sequoit Broadcast Network, and he is looking forward to creating videos. Jackie is also a wrestler, and enjoys eating and spending time with friends.

Marissa Milone, SBN, Broadcast Journalist

Marissa Milone is a junior at Antioch Community High School. She is new to the Sequoit Broadcast Network gang, and hopes to utilize this opportunity to enhance her knowledge of the world and the people in it through basic journalism. As an honor student and a member of the marching band, the jazz band, poetry club, German club, and Model United Nations, Marissa has taken root in the small town of Antioch and has big plans for her future.

Tyson Baker, Broadcast Journalist

Tyson Baker is a junior at Antioch Community High School. This is his second year as a Sequoit Broadcast Network member. As a second year member, he looks to further his education in the media world and make better content. In his free time he loves hanging out with friends and doing fun, radical things with his squad.

Tommy Maloney, SBN, Broadcast Journalist

Tommy Maloney is a junior at ACHS. This is Tommy’s first year in Sequoit Broadcast Network. He is excited to learn more about broadcasting and making fun and interesting videos. His interests include football, rugby, boating, and having a good time.

Delaney Scott is a sophomore at Antioch Community High school. This is Delaney’s first year is Sequoit Broadcast Network. She aspires to make innovative and fun videos for all students to enjoy.
