Many people are talking about shackets, but not everyone knows what they actually are: a crossover between a shirt and jacket. Shackets are made with a heavier material and people usually wear them oversized. They hold in the heat, so most people wear them as a coat.

Shackets can have hoods or lining in them so they are bulky similar to a coat but with a sleeker look. Some shackets do not have hoods or lining, so pairing them with t-shirts and tanks is easy. Either way, they are just as warm and cozy. There are also multiple ways to style a shacket: buttoned up, tucked in or belted. People pair these styles differently and wear them how they please.

“[I like to pair a shacket with] a crop top or sweater [and] jeans,” sophomore Elle Luebke said.

People like the variety of a shacket so they can wear them multiple times with many different shirts and have a cute trendy outfit each time. Shackets can be worn many ways, and for many different occasions, like meeting a friend for coffee or just walking around. Fancy outings like a date night or a conference.

Shackets are mostly worn in the fall but are not limited to one season. Shackets can have different patterns for more of a fall feel and look. They can also be more simple with solid colors for a wintery feel.

“More simple colors because it matches more things,” senior Hannah Thomson said.

Depending on what style people prefer, impacts where they will buy it from. Some of the most popular places to buy shackets are Dry Goods, Urban Outfitters and American Eagle.

“[I prefer] Dry Goods because I like the colors that they have,” freshman Kate Sheehan said.

Some shackets can cost up to $60. If that is not an ideal price range, there are plenty of other stores that might be cheaper, such as Target and Walmart.

Shackets are growing in popularity and do not seem to be going out of style anytime soon. If ever given the chance to buy one, try the endless styling options.
