Recently, dark showers have become a popular trend, although it is called a dark shower a person isn’t completely in the dark, they typically can either use a candle or a flashlight so that they are able to see what they are doing.

It might sound weird to take a shower in the dark, but many say that the moment they step in the shower it’s a whole new experience, Glamour’s Petra Guglielmetti wrote about her first time taking a dark shower.

“So many bathrooms have a bright, almost institutional glare, what with all that super-shiny tile, and our shower time sometimes seems so full of chores,” Guglielmetti said. “The candle made me relax and focus on the feeling of the hot water, and the peace of only hearing its splashy sounds, not the usual backdrop of the TV or stereo or sirens out in the street.”

With no more bright lights and music blaring in the bathroom, a person is left alone in the shower to wash away the stress of their day and let their mind wander to wherever it wants to go. With people’s lives nowadays being consistently on the go, dark showers may be the right choice for them. So the next time one may need to decompress and let go of what their day held, they can turn off the lights and step in the shower.
