Remy’s Ratatouille dish is perfect for beginners and delicious, but unfortunately time-consuming.

If you’re anything like me, the food in a movie stands out. I tend to develop a curiosity for what those foods could be and if they tasted any good. I decided to take that idea to the big range of Disney movies. From the cuisine of Beauty and the Beast to Winnie the Pooh, here are the recipes I recreated and their rankings.

 

I think it is fair to start off with the recipes that did not make the top 5 list. All of the food was good for the most part, except some of them were the average dessert or meal you could get anywhere. These unranked recipes include: empire biscuits (Brave), the “giant cookie” (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids), the yellow snowcone (Monsters Inc.), the magical cookies (Alice in Wonderland) and the “Hi Dad” soup (A Goofy Movie).

 

Now straight into my top 5 recipes!

 

#5: Mushu’s Rice Porridge (Mulan)

This recipe was simple, but it was kind of cool to have your breakfast smile back at you. I am an adventurous eater so I am not exactly picky with textures; however, porridge is very different from anything I have had. It was rather tasteless only having the salt of the bacon for flavor. I ranked this dish in fifth because it stood out from the others and it was quick, but the porridge texture is something I’d have to get used to. I recommend this recipe to anyone who is looking for a cute breakfast idea or just a change in taste!

#4: “The Grey Stuff” (Beauty and the Beast)

 

This recipe was scrumptious! I did not know what to expect when first researching this recipe, but as I looked into it more it looked like a dessert I must attempt to make. “The Grey Stuff” uses oreos, whipped topping and pudding to make a light, enjoyable treat. Upon first taste of the food the texture is like mousse. There was also a burst of cookies and cream flavor which wasn’t all that surprising. This confection ranks fourth on the list for its rather simple recipe and taste, however, it does not compare with the quality of the first three dishes.

#3: Gopher’s Succotash (The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh)

Succotash is an interesting dish; it is more of a summer recipe so it delivered a little bit of the warmth of summer while both cooking and eating it. This was a two part meal, the succotash itself and the chicken to accompany it. I ranked this as third solely because a key part in this recipe is marinating the chicken for at least two hours/overnight, but I can admit that the flavor of this food made up for it. This cuisine is perfect for pool parties or even just to reminisce in summer flavors with its bold flavors.

#2: Remy’s Ratatouille (Ratatouille)

 

This recipe was unexpectedly easy for a non-experienced cook and was absolutely delicious. Ratatouille is a simple vegetable dish with sliced eggplant, peppers, yellow squash and zucchini mixed in an onion-tomato paste. The only downside to this recipe is that it took 1.5 hours total with preparation and cooking time. Because of the elongated time needed to make this meal, I ranked it as second on the list. I highly recommend to give this dish a try if you have extra time on your hands!

#1: Kronk’s Spinach Puffs (The Emperor’s New Groove)

 

This is considered more of a small side dish, but it nevertheless was super easy to cook. The Emperor’s New Groove is one of my favorite Disney movies, so I was ecstatic to test out Kronk’s spinach puffs. This was my favorite recipe to make out of all the ones I tried, due to the savoriness of the cheese and the flakiness of the puff pastry being perfect. This one did not take too long to prepare– it was just around 15 minutes when I made it. With the rather quick cook time and the delicious taste, this small dish ranks first. Overall, it is a yummy new food to try and has a healthy twist of spinach too!
