The Walking Dead Takes a Bite out of ACHS

The Walking Dead Takes a Bite out of ACHS

“The Walking Dead” on AMC has infected many students and even staff members at Antioch Community High School with a desire for zombie fun and fantasy.

“The Walking Dead” is a show about a man Rick Grimms who wakes up in the hospital after being shot to a post-apocolyptic America, where there are no signs of life in the building. He is soon reunited with his wife, son and his best friend Shane. The show is not just about zombies, or as they are called in the show “Walkers”. The Walking Dead shows the aspect of surviving in a world taken over by zombies, and it has done so for three seasons. Each season has offered new venues for rebuilding civilization and new complications for the cast.

“I was in class one day last year and a student of mine was talking about ‘The Walking Dead,’ but I had never watched it before until a few days later when I was with my friend who wouldn’t stop talking about it,” said math teacher Christopher Stanich.

Stanich is now a huge fan of “The Walking Dead” and is willing to discuss it with anyone who brings it to his attention.

“When I first watched it with my friend it was confusing because it was an episode from season two. If anyone is interested in watching it I recommend that you watch it from the first episode. I ended up watching both season one and two in the span of three days. I would come to school, teach, go home and watch it,” said Stanich.

Students are particularly interested in the show because zombies and apocalypse are both fascinating to teenagers.

“I like ‘The Walking Dead’ because I like apocalyptic shows. They’re always suspenseful and interesting to watch,” said senior Taylor Brandon.

The show has been having many people talking. Students who have seen the show most likely bring it up in a conversation if they are discussing television.

“I started watching it because everyone wouldn’t shut up about it and I wanted to see why it was so great. Now I have seen every episode from every season”, said Brandon.

Season four starts Oct. 13 and many students and staff members are excited to see it. The past three seasons can be found on Netflix for those who enjoy re-watching the episodes, or who just want to start watching it for the first time.
