“Parks and Recreation” will come to a close on Tuesday night, leaving millions of viewers heartbroken. The hit TV show seamlessly blended comedy with political commentary, creating a one of a kind program. Not only did the incredible cast make viewers laugh, or cry from touching moments, but they even taught some important life lessons.

The star-studded cast included comedians such as Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rashida Jones, Rob Lowe, Retta, Jim O’Heir and many other outstanding reoccurring characters and guest appearances. Many appearances were made from the well known actors like Paul Rudd, Will Arnett, Bill Murray, Keegan-Michael Key, Andy Samberg, and even Michelle Obama and John McCain. Each and every character throughout the show somehow left an impact on viewers.

“I like watching Parks and Rec because the characters are all very relatable even though they’re all adults working for the government. I can actually find a part of each main character that I can relate to at a personal level, which isn’t something a lot of tv shows have,” said ACHS senior Riley Beckett. “When the characters are happy or upset, I feel the same way they do, so in a way I feel like the show is a part of me, as cheesy as it sounds.”

With essential lessons on friendship, relationships, work ethic, dedication, breakfast foods and government, “Parks and Recreation” will forever leave a lasting impression on its fans.

As well as the fans, all former and fellow cast members are sad to see “Parks and Recreation” come to an end. Unfortunately, not all of the cast members will be there to celebrate the series’ success. Co-Executive Producer and writer of the TV show, Harris Wittels, passed away on Feb. 19. The final episode will include a tribute to him and all the work he has done for the show, along with all of his other works.

“It’s sad that the show is ending, but not everything can go on forever and now we just have to wait and see what’s next for Amy Poehler and the rest of the cast,” said Beckett.

Viewers may be saying goodbye to this Pawnee parks crew, but the cast will be moving on to even bigger things. Poehler will be joining Elizabeth Banks and Bradley Cooper in Netflix’s revival of the movie “Wet Hot American Summer.” She will also be in the upcoming film “Sisters,” with her dynamic duo, Tina Fey, coming out in December 2015. Offerman is currently on a stand-up tour with his wife, Megan Mullally, who is also a character on Parks. He is rumored to be in multiple upcoming films throughout the next couple years. Pratt will also be starring in multiple movie franchises, such as “The Lego Movie” sequel and the revivals of “Jurassic Park” and “Indiana Jones.” Plaza is starring in an upcoming film, “Dirty Grandpa” with Zac Efron and Robert De Niro, as well as a film called “Fresno.” Ansari, Scott, Lowe, Jones and O’Heir all also have upcoming appearances in multiple TV shows and films.

The first six seasons of “Parks and Recreation” are available on Netflix to watch for either the first time, or the hundredth. Watch Poehler’s interview on her character, Leslie Knope.

It will be a sad goodbye to the Parks family, so get your box of tissues, plate of waffles, eggs and bacon and prepare for one last glimpse of Pawnee. After all, there has never been a sadness that can’t be cured by breakfast food.
