New Administration Promotes Positive Interactions

The 2012-2013 school year came to a close after announcing Bradford Hubbard as the new principal of Antioch Community High School in place of retired principal John Whitehurst. Students saw Hubbard a few times throughout the year and were able to get a little insight about him. Hubbard’s presence is now in full force for the 2013-2014 school year.

Hubbard knew that ACHS was the place for him and couldn’t have been more excited when he found out that he got the job.

“I have really enjoyed it. I feel very welcomed and have had a great opportunity to get to know the staff, students and community,” said Hubbard. “It’s a really good fit for me.”

Hubbard has many plans for the upcoming year and the years to come. He wants to start it off by listening and getting to know the students and staff. You can find him standing in the halls during passing periods, and even find his door open (when he’s not busy) for students to come and talk to him.

“I want to build positive relationships and trust as we decide to move forward in the school year,” said Hubbard.

However, Hubbard isn’t the only new face in our administration. This year ACHS  welcomed new Assistant Principal of Student Services Omar Rodriguez as well. By coincidence, Hubbard and Rodriguez worked together at Highland Park High School before meeting again at ACHS.

“Mr. Rodriguez is very concerned with what’s best for students, and he has endless amounts of energy,” said Hubbard.

Rodriguez also knew last year that ACHS was the place for him. Even though he wasn’t really looking to move, he changed his mind after receiving a walk through of the school by Assistant Principal Aryan Haren.

“I got a feel for the student body and I wanted to work here,” said Rodriguez.

So far he has felt a warm welcome by all in the community. “Even though we’ve already had to make some difficult decisions, everyone’s been very respectful. I’ve been able to have dialogue with students and parents,” said Rodriguez. “I’m feeling very at home.”

Rodriguez intends to go about the school year establishing and reinforcing policies and procedures.

“I want to do what’s best for the students,” Rodriguez said.
