The lady Sequoits faced the panthers last Saturday on their home court. Going into the weekend with a record of 16-3, the Sequoits were preparing to add another tally to their victory column. But just like any opponent, the Sequoits were not going to treat the Panthers any differently.

“{Our mentality} Was to not underestimate them,” junior Julia Murillo said. “And Focus on our offense and defense.”

During pre-game the Sequoits were focused solely on the game ahead of them. It showed in the first half, putting the Sequoits up, 36-11.

After the ten minute halftime break the Sequoits had a new game plan; by moving the ball quickly it would open up more opportunities for an open lay up or jump shot. This was what the Sequoits exact intention was.

“We moved the ball faster with each pass,” junior Amy Vasquez said. “And kept the flow of the game going.”

With this strategy the Sequoits were able to pull away with the win at home, 62-51. Come out and see the lady Sequoits for yourself, their next game is against Lakes on Wednesday, Febuary 1, at Lakes Community High School.
