On Wednesday, Nov. 5, community members voted for this year’s elections. On the ballot, voters were asked whether they approved EMS or emergency medical services. The results show 1,935 voters from Antioch, IL voted against the referendum leaving 1,744 voters in approval.

The same referendum was on the ballots of Antioch Township voters and they also denied the referendum with only 41.3 percent approving EMS.

Both referendums would increase taxes by 0.25 percent for the cost of services. That tax would have increased costs for a homeowner of a $100,000 home about $83 dollars a year or $6.92 a month.

Now that the EMS referendum did not pass, a private service will be looked into to provide ambulance services to Antioch.
