This week’s app is Neko Atsume. Available for free in the iOS App Store and the Google Play store and for only 99 cents in the Amazon Appstore.

Neko Atsume is a cat lover’s paradise, a virtual neighborhood to attract felines. A total of 47 cats can be collected. Players are able to set up food, toys, cushions and other goodies in their backyard to attract cats to the neighborhood. Each time a cat comes, they are automatically recorded in your “catbook”. In addition to the regular 47 felines that can be collected, there are 17 rare cats, which are only attracted by special objects, rather than being attracted by simple cardboard boxes and rubber balls like the other cats.

Neko Atsume’s in-game store features a large assortment of toys for amusing, entertaining, and attracting cats. Some of the items include a fish bowl, a cardboard train, and a cat bed shaped like tiramisu. In order to purchase goodies in the in-game store, one must use the game currency which are silver and gold fish that the cats leave behind as gifts. Neko Atsume also profiles each cat that comes to visit in the virtual playground, as well as displaying their personality, power level, how many times he/she has visited and the top three goodies used on them.

Overall, the game has a great graphic style to it, cartoony yet very crisp and fresh. If you are a lover of cats, or you merely find them cute or perhaps interesting, Neko Atsume is surely a game you should check out.
