Coming off of a three game winning streak, the Sequoits struggled to continue their record against North Chicago on Tuesday, Jan 4.

Starting off strong in the beginning, the Sequoits finished the first quarter with a 14 point lead.

With Danny Brito out with an injury, the momentum of play slowed down noticeably from the team.

The Sequoits started to lose the energy in the second quarter and started the second half being down by two points.

“A lot of our focus was lost after Danny’s injury. It’s always hard to stay focused when you lose a key player suddenly like that.” said junior Logan Weber.

During the second half, Antioch struggled to keep up with North Chicago’s quick counterattacks and could not get back on defense quick enough.

“With almost a week off of practice and some key players out, our physicality just couldn’t keep up throughout the entire game. This led to some mistakes and those little mistakes can change the game quickly.” said senior Nathan Formella.

Trying to increase the energy to regain the lead was a challenge for the Sequoits in the second half, ending the third quarter down 57-48.

As the final minutes of the game narrowed down, the Sequoits could not catch up with North Chicago, ending in a loss for our team.
