Fireworks weren’t the only thing leaving a lasting impression on Antioch’s annual firecracker festival. This year, Antioch Community High School served as the grand marshals of the parade, kicking off the year-long Sequoit centennial celebration.

The grand marshal float included 13 of the oldest living Sequoits, graduates of classes from 1938 to 1950, as well as members of the newly formed Cardinal Crazies spirit group and members of the 100th graduating class. Members of the centennial committee also rode the float, including committee chair and English and journalism teacher Patrick Johnson, ILC secretary Kathleen Stewart, former Sequoit Pride President Dawn Latakas and ACHS Principal Bradford Hubbard. Hubbard’s wife Kelly and his two daughters also road in the parade with the committee.

The float represents the kick-off of the centennial celebration. The parade is the first of 100 celebratory events.
