District 117 Issues Emergency Alert

The following alert was issued by District 117 on Saturday, Sep. 7 at 10 a.m.:

Community High School District 117, in cooperation with Antioch Police Department is issuing an alert concerning an incident that occurred Friday at 3:45 p.m. at McMillian Road and Gail Street in Antioch.

The Antioch Community High School Cross Country team was completing a practice run in the area when a male subject parked his vehicle and exited. As a female member of the team ran by, the subject called out to her to stop and to come to his location. The young lady correctly continued to run directly to her coach and reported the incident.  Subsequently, another female student reported a similar incident that occurred two weeks earlier involving a man matching the same description. That incident was not reported to school authorities at the time of occurrence.  The subject is described as a male Caucasian in his 60’s with short gray/white hair. The District has informed all coaches to be on alert regarding this situation.

Community High School District 117 is committed to student safety and the well-being of all our communities.  Additionally, Police have increased patrols and are working with school officials to notify students and parents of the incidents. Descriptive information regarding this subject is very limited. Citizens should call the Antioch Police Department immediately if they observe suspicious activity.  847-395-8585
