Global Warming

Theodore Martinek, Tom Tom Staff

Many people may think of global warming to be a myth.  With the freezing weather in the winter of 2013-2014, who doesn’t believe it? But those extreme temperatures are just part of the global warming that is one of the most dangerous problems our generation will face in coming weather.

Social Studies teacher Stephen Rose said, “glaciers  in Alaska that have receded farther than they ever have ever before. Greenland is actually green, as opposed to its icy original form. and we are starting to find Polar bears that are losing their homes.

While it may not seem as much to society right now, global warming will be one of the ever challenging problems our generation will face in the coming years.

In order to fix these problems, is to everybody should be more friendly towards the environment. This isn’t just recycling what you use, its the way we live. Just little things are necessary, like riding your bike to school, taking the train, carpooling, and even taking the stairs. Along with letting large corporations and the United States Government know that these are problems that matter.

As Rose said, “I’m not sure there is a way to fix the environment, other than to reduce our carbon emissions as a whole, as a people, as a planet.”

If we can do this, our world will return to its former harmony that it once was in.
