Hansa Coffee Roasters is a small franchise coffee shop originating in Libertyville, about 30 minutes away from Antioch. Hansa has two other coffee shops located in Lake Bluff and one coming soon to Vernon Hills. Hansa is not just an average coffee shop but also a wholesale one. A wholesale coffee shop is a shop that distributes coffee items in bulk. They sell things such as coffee beans, ground coffee, and bakery goods.

For the wholesale bakery, people buy the items by the dozen. Hansa sells items in packs of 12, 24, 36 and 48. The most popular bakery items to buy from Hansa are their chocolate chip cookies, muffins and scones. Most people go there for the coffee and the shop’s aesthetic.

“I saw an Instagram post about it and then I drove past it one day and thought it looked really cute,” senior Caroline Woolard said.

Their coffee shop used to be a warehouse, but they found a better use for it. Hansa is well known for its coffee.

Hansa Coffee provides staff with “world-class training in manual brewing, espresso theory and technical understanding of the coffee industry.” With coffee, this good, more and more people keep finding out about this shop.

Hansa also has a wide variety of coffee. It ranges from decaf to dark roast, and all different types of milk, sauces and syrups. The customization options are endless to create a coffee to anyone’s preference.

“I got a an iced vanilla latte,” Woolard said.

If people do not know what they want that day, their menu is very broad.

“I got a caramel macchiato,” senior Peyton Lyndon said.

The syrups they have at all times are vanilla, hazelnut, caramel, simple syrup, mint and lavender. Hansa also has seasonal syrups such as pumpkin, blueberry and peppermint. The milk that they available is whole, skim, breve, almond, soy and oat. When ordering, the coffee type and sizing options are hot or iced and in 12oz, 16oz or 20oz.

Hansa might be far away but make it a fun trip with friends and family to go try it out one day.
