Most people will have to deal with the DMV in some way throughout their life. Typically, people go there to get their license, renew their license or update their license plate.

There are many stories that are taken away leaving the DMV. Some will fade and some will stick with people forever. Normally, the bad memories will be carried throughout a lifetime. Some of the memories could be waiting for hours, failing the test, not having the correct papers or the car having the check engine light on.

The instructors at the DMV don’t only make sure that a person can drive, but also that the car is able to be driven too. They make sure the driver is cautious about what is going on in and out of the car.

“When I was taking my drivers test the lady almost failed me because I did not make sure that she had her seatbelt on,” senior Cira Palma said.

The instructor wanted to make sure the driver had checked that the passenger was safe too, so if they had gotten into an accident the seat belt may have helped them both.

A lot of the time, the DMV is packed because they are only open for certain hours on certain days of the week. Most Saturday’s when people go to get their license, the wait for an instructor is around an hour.

“I have only been to the DMV a few times and haven’t had any real issue, but the wait is just so long,” sophomore Natalie Svarc said.

Another reason why they are so packed is that the DMV is an important part of most people’s lives in order to be a legal driver and have an up to date, legal car. The long wait is owrth it because it helps a person be safe from getting in trouble in the long run.

Other drivers on the road could be another contributing to the horror stories of the DMV.

“I was about to go straight across a road that did not have a stop sign. I was just about to go, and had not seen a car that was clearly speeding coming and almost got into an accident,” senior Madison Dvoratchek said. “I still passed because the instructor even said it was not my fault.”

Horror stories of the DMV can be funny or scary depending on the situation. Driving instructors probably have seen it all from good to bad drivers. Whatever one’s story may be, it is unique to them and their experience.
