In high school there are many different of classes you can take. However, only some of these classes have textbooks. The use of these books varies by teacher and subject.

At Antioch Community High School there are no math texts book in Math 1 or Math 2.  This may not be a big deal for students. Although it could be for teachers.

“Yes. Its always nice to have extra resources,” said math teacher William Zambole.

Most teachers would like to have textbooks because they do not have to carry them or use them. Textbooks are heavy and take up a lot of space in lockers and book bags.

Sophomore Molly Kennedy said, ” I don’t think we should have them; the teachers are doing good enough without them. I use them a little but not in all of my classes. Plus I don’t like carrying them for no reason.”

Some students like using their textbooks and think it is easier. Now some teachers have given out printed pages of textbooks instead of making students take them home. This allows students to write in them.

Textbooks could be helpful for resources and help teachers teach, but, ultimately, students do not prefer them.
