Lions Triumph Over the Bears

In a day full of feeling stuffed, the Chicago Bears couldn’t help but join in as the Detroit Lions claimed a victory from them with a score of 34-17. What looked like it was going to be a game finally in the favor of the Bears, the Bears fell short starting with the second quarter, and they weren’t able to catch back up to their first quarter success.

Chicago was in the lead in the first half with a score of 14-3. This was the last quarter where Chicago was in the lead.

Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler had 48 attempts and 31 completions while gaining 280 yards and helping achieve two touchdowns. Alshon Jeffery completed seven of those plays, averaging 7.9 yards per carry and scoring both touchdowns.

Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford had 45 attempts with 34 completions while gaining 380 yards and helping achieve two touchdowns. Lions’ start wide receiver Calvin Johnson put up 146 yards, averaging 13.3 yards, and scored two touchdowns. Joique Bell carried for 23 plays, with 91 yards averaging four yards per carry, and two touchdowns. Johnson had perhaps his best game of his already short season (due to injury).

The history of the Bears playing the Lions leads fans to believe that Chicago would dominate over Detroit. The two have played 169 games, with the Bears winning 96 games. This leaves Lions with a less-than-impressive 68 wins. With this win, the Lions have now won back-to-back games on Thanksgiving after previously losing nine times. Lions beat Green Bay last year, 40-10.
