There are many ways that music is slowed down or can be slowed down. Certain types of guitars are made for slower and more contemporary styles of music.

Autotune and SoundCloud has gradually changed the world of music. Reverbing and slowing down original songs made by well known artists has become more popular over the course of the last few years.

Reverbing music is an electronically produced echo that artists put in the background of their music to help give an effect on the music being produced to sound slower.

SoundCloud is a free phone application for artists to post their music without having a record label or a contractual agreement along with the music they release. Along with original creators, SoundCloud has been used to change songs that have been produced by famous artists.

“I listened to slowed down music because it is a lot calmer,”sophomore Joaquin Barba said. “I think that you hear more of a song and its intricacy when you listen to it slowed down.”

Music has been proven to affect and alter the moods of the listeners depending on different factors of the song. According to audio-technica.com, recent studies have shown that listening to slower tempo music has many different benefits.

“Similar to meditation and even hypnotism, slow rhythmic music alters brain activity in a way that induces a trance-like state similar to that of meditation, which encourages relaxation,” an article written by Audio-Technica stated.

Famous artists such as Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber get the recognition when they first put out their music and at award shows, some people think it is unethical to listen to music that was originally put out by a famous artist or a band.

“I think that it is just a lazy way to take streaming time away from the original artists,” senior Matthew Lawrence said.

Lawrence believes that artists deserve the credit that they put into the music that they produce; however music is an art form and with time, art trends and designs change as similar to how people do.

“As long as they give credit to the original creator and make it known that it is a sample, there is no problem with changing their art,” Barba said. “They are just taking something older, reusing it and making something new.”

Recreating forms of music has been around since Mozart, and slowing down and reverbing music is progressively getting more popular as time goes on. New trends are going to continue growing and become more prevalent in the world of music.
