New releases flood the top charts, what should you listen to?

Recently, artists worldwide have been pushing out music left and right. XXXTENTACION and Lil Uzi Vert have dominated the ITunes top charts, but what is their music like? Hip-Hop lovers constantly debate what music is “good” and what music is “trash”; all bias aside, these albums are something to listen to, even if they don’t align with personal taste.

 

XXXTENTACION put out album “17” on August 25. The album features many samples from Shiloh Dynasty, an artist who reached fame over short Vine and Instagram videos. Topics talked about in this album are dark, and highlight xxx’s struggle with depression, suicidal thoughts, and personal loss. Titles of the tracks include: “Save Me”, “Jocelyn Flores”, and “Everybody Died in Their Nightmares”. XXX’s motive with the album was to help others with mental

 

“I put my all into this, In hopes that it will help cure or at least numb your depression,” XXXTENTACION said.

 

Luv Is Rage 2, by Lil Uzi Vert hit the shelves on August 25 as well, and this album features the true feeling and emotion of the rapper turned “rockstar”. One of Uzi’s pre-released songs on the album  “XO TOUR Llif3” went viral, and hit number one on the top charts. This album as a whole though, isn’t striking many people’s attention due to the fact that this album is a lot different than most of his popular songs. Junior Dimitri Karellas shares his plans with the album.

 

“I don’t plan on listening to it because it isn’t the style of music I like,” Karellas said.  

 

Personal opinion can definitely sway how one feels about an album or artist, but these albums are something to try. Relating to one song can help someone grow and learn as a person, and that’s what these artists are aiming to achieve.
