Spicing Up Hot Chocolate This Holiday Season

Hot chocolate is a fun and tasty way to get in the holiday spirit, but there’s always room to spice up things this holiday season.

With all the cold and snow coming in the next few months, we all want ways to keep warm. So why not make it something delicious? One of the best ways, in my opinion, to stay warm in a delicious way, is to keep a hot drink with you during the cold days to hold and make you feel warm from the inside-out. Hot chocolate is a classic drink for the Christmas season and one of my personal favorites. Here are a few ways to spice up your chocolate drink this winter.

Use milk instead of water.

If you are as lazy as me, your hot chocolate ends up being the hot chocolate powder that you just add hot water to. However, there is a better option. Milk is always the best option because it makes the drink creamy and stronger than just water. I always use almond milk because I find it to be sweeter and it doesn’t upset my stomach.

Add cinnamon to your hot chocolate.

Cinnamon is a great way to spice up your hot cocoa. Adding just a couple sprinkles of cinnamon will make it the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. This reminds me of the “Abuelita” hot chocolate, but a lot easier to just throw in and walk out the door!

Mix in candy.

Throwing a candy cane into your mug will make the perfect blend of chocolate and mint. Another tasty candy to throw in is caramel. The caramel will make the drink thicker and sweeter as well as make the drink seem much more spectacular.

Toss in marshmallows and top with whipped cream.

Topping off your hot chocolate with some whipped cream or marshmallows is the best way to add some sweetness to your drink and add aesthetic to your drink for the perfect snap.
