When it comes to administration, guidance counselors or even security guards, students play a big role in all of it.

At Antioch Community High School (ACHS), students are often seen running passes all over the school to get to students. Appropriately named “pass runners,” they are able to help many people of the ACHS staff.

Registrar Vicky Stevens said, “They are very helpful. They always do stuff like copy, cut, and alphabetize non-confidential documents which need to be filed.Without the runners, I would have tons of work. It is very nice to have them help.”

Not only do runners help the guidance office, but also Laura Wright, the Attendance Office attendant.

She said, “Pass runners are very helpful because kids forget lunches, clothes, homework, and books, and parents bring them to school and [the runners] make sure the students get them.”

Ultimately, the pass runners of ACHS even help the deans. As explained by security guard Susan Jacobs, they essentially help out the whole administration.

Jacobs said, “They do an excellent job. They help us like we help deans. Without runners, we could not do an effective job.”

Student helpers are able to put their part into the school system as any staff member would. Without the pass runners of ACHS, the guidance office, the attendance office, and the deans office would be hectic with more and more work to accomplish. Pass runners ultimately are the working gears of the simple things that take time. Saving time is everything, especially when you have a school to run.
