Critics say the force is strong with this Episode.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars fans worldwide gathered to see the award winning film they had been waiting decades for: Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The movie hit theaters on December 18, 2015 and drew a lot of positive attention.

Kathleen Stewart, librarian at Antioch Community High School said, “This was my favorite one of all the episodes. I enjoyed that characters from the previous films were brought back and I especially liked the new characters brought in. Comparing this film to the older ones, I found it cool that it incorporated so much from the original movies.”

As the last Star Wars film was released in May of 1983, the story of Luke Skywalker had seemingly to come to an end. Over thirty years later, after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a threat is posed by the new character Kylo Ren and the First order. Long time stormtrooper, Finn, introduced in this new film, took on his own journey that went against the First Order. His duty was to recover a droid known as BB-8 that held the rest of the map that lead to Luke Skywalker’s location. On his voyage, he becomes tangled with with a female scavenger, Rey, the two of them making an unstoppable team. Together they escape from Jakku and end up on the Millennium Falcon with the help of former Star Wars characters, Han Solo and Chewbacca.

For some, the debut of The Force Awakens had made history.

“I would definitely recommend this film to all kinds of people,” Stewart said. “It was such an amazing film that I could see it all over again.”

The story of Luke Skywalker continued as well as the fame and popularity of the first film. The brilliant story line created by George Lucas and carried on by Director J.J. Abrams has not only left people in awe, but also made hopes for a seventh film to be produced.
