Varsity Profile: Thomas Boeh

Leader of the baseball team, Thomas Boeh gives his insight on the upcoming baseball season.

Last year as a junior, Thomas Boeh played all over the infield for the Sequoits baseball team, mostly at first base but also rotated around from third and caught behind the plate. Coming off of an All-Conference selection last year, he is looking to improve his game and be a key part to the Sequoits success this season. Last year, Boeh posted a stat line of a .325 batting average, .481 on base percentage, 26 hits, 25 runs batted in (RBI), 23 runs, 24 walks and two home runs, one of which was a walk off against the Grant Bulldogs.

Boeh and the Sequoits look to take advantage of the newly formed Northern Lake County Conference(NLCC) and its new teams like Grayslake North and Grayslake Central, teams they do not usually see too often during the season. Boeh cannot wait for the season start, “I am so looking forward to baseball season, it is honestly the best time of year,” Boeh said.

Boeh feels like this could be the year of the Sequoits.

“I believe we have a very talented group, we are a senior heavy team which is nice. We have seen it all and know what it takes to win. Losing last year in the regional championship game hurt us a lot but also showed us that we need to work hard and stay hungry,” Boeh said.

This being Boeh’s second year on Varsity, he knows the downfalls a team can hit during such a long season, that’s why he feels like he must stay positive and remain a role model for the team.

“I feel like I need to be leader and captain for this team, especially when others are down,” Boeh said. “I honestly feel keeping the team morale and staying positive will translate to wins for us. We have the talent and players to win, it’s just putting it all together and building for the playoffs.”

The Sequoits are eyeing the regional championship and even beyond this year for their goals.

“I really feel as team we could make some noise to in the playoff and bring home some hardware,” Boeh said.
