In 2015 alone, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival sold around 200,000 tickets and grossed approximately $84 million dollars. Today, it has become known as the world’s largest music extravaganza. Coachella will welcome thousands of music fans to the deserts of Indio, California as they kick off their 2016 festival. All general admission tickets are sold out for both weekends this year at a staggering cost of $399 a piece. Although VIP tickets are also sold out, they range around a staggering $899 a piece. Based off of strictly numbers, it is a bit shocking to find all tickets to be sold out with such high ticket prices, but every year Coachella runs a sold out festival with ease.

This year, over a hundred bands will be performing during the two festival weekends. Current headliners for the first weekend include LCD Soundsystem, Guns N’ Roses, and Calvin Harris, as well as other popular bands/artists, including Ellie Goulding, Ice Cube, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Halsey, James Bay, Disclosure, Zedd, Sia, Major Lazer and the 1975. Not only will major artists be performing, but many celebrities, such as Kendall Jenner and Vanessa Hudgens, tend to make an appearance at the festival.

Last weekend, Guns N’ Roses rose to the occasion and performed a throwback set, followed by an artistic performance by Sia and a chill set by James Bay. Ke$ha surprised Coachella audiences with her impromptu performance after Zedd, while Calvin Harris stole the show as usual with his energetic set. Not only were older bands included in the lineup, but Coachella was treated with Ice Cube and songs from N.W.A, a major throwback group that has gained success from their film Straight Outta Compton released earlier in the year. Next weekend will be no short of amazing with performances from the same artists and with thousands of fans spreading their love for music in the deserts of California.
