8 Goal Shut-Out Kicks Off 2014 Season

Varsity soccer team pushes toward goal of state with blow-out home opener against Crystal Lake Central.

The boys varsity soccer team at won their first home game of the season against Crystal Lake Central on Aug. 25 with a 8-0 win.

“I think we can make it to state and win state” said junior Danny Brito.

Brito put up three goals and one assist for the Sequoits.

“We can score goals when ever we feel like it,” said Coach Marni Polakow.

The Sequoits scored six goals in the first half and two goals in the second half of the game. Logan Bouker scored two of the eight goals for the Sequoits. Iven Hernandez, Kristian Streit and Mickey West each contributed one goal on the score board.

The boys soccer team expects to pass Super-Sectionals and qualify for state. The team’s next home game is against Grayslake Central on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
