The ACHS academic team took first place at the North Suburban Scholastic Bowl Conference Tournament last Wednesday, Feb. 17. Although this was not a qualifying tournament, it was still an important win for the team. They competed against 12 teams they faced in the regular season. The team was seeded third, under Stevenson and Lake Forest, both of which beat Antioch in previous meets.
In Antioch’s round against Lake Forest, they won 280-220. In their final round against Stevenson, the game was tied down to the last bonus question, which Antioch won, beating Stevenson 290-280.
“Winning the Conference Tournament is a good sign for our team going into Masonic Bowl Sectionals and IHSA Regionals,” senior Brian Mrowiec said. “I think we have a really solid team this year, and we should be able to do so awesome stuff at those tournaments.”
Ten players from the varsity team competed in the Masonic Bowl Sectionals this last Saturday, winning two rounds and losing three. Varsity will be going to IHSA Regionals on March 7.
