With the ACT right around the corner, ACHS has taken on a new preparatory class offered to all juniors who wish to improve their scores on the test. The program goes from Feb. 2 until March 9, so juniors will feel as ready as possible to take the real exam on March 15.

ACHS has offered other programs in the past, but the administration feels more confident in this one.

“I think the biggest [benefit] is having our own teachers deliver the information,” Assistant Principal Aryan Haren said. “Just having those relationships with our students is the biggest difference [from the last program] and benefit that we’ll hopefully see.”

In the classes, which include English, math, reading and science, students are grouped together based on score to work on specific skill sets that are right for them.

Those who are in the class feel that it’s helped them so far.

“Seeing the test so many times has made me more confident,” junior Lanie Neumann said. “I’ve gotten a lot faster, so then I can use that time to go back and check my answers, which is helpful.”

For more practice, ACHS will be offering a practice ACT to all students on March 4.
