When and wherever there is snow and ice, people look forward to the season of sledding, skiing, snowboarding and of course, ice skating. The ice rink located in Antioch officially opened on Friday, Jan. 9 for it’s second year. The rink is open daily from 10 in the morning until eight night. The rink is a place to ease down and relax with some friends, go on a fun date, or to just have fun with family.

Ice skating is permitted daily, however, skate rentals is unavailable. Customers and residents are encouraged to bring their own skates and to suspect the ice prior to skating.

According to the Daily Herald, the ice rink is often used to play hockey. All groups interested in playing hockey are required to have adult supervision and permit in hand prior to using the rink. Hockey is prohibited during open skating hours.

Antioch Community High School freshman Tommy Cerney said “I like that there is a new activity to do in our small town. I like to have something closer to home where I can hangout with my friends. Going all the way to Chicago to skate is not something I would like to do very often and Rink Side is always so crowded.”

The ice rink is located behind the old location of Hannah’s Home Accessories. While the rink might seem small, there is enough room to have some fun with friends, family, and the Antioch community.
