From the first 100m of the race at Field Of Dreams Park in Ingleside you could tell that Sequoits had some competition. Charlie Smith was out in front with the Rams and Bulldogs not far behind. After the first lap Smith trailed behind the lead runner of the Rams by less than a second; these two runners were followed by a pack of four Sequoits, ultimately giving the Sequoits the lead after the first lap.

As the race went on the Rams lead runner started to separate himself from the pack and gained a pretty decent lead. Eric Hart, Sebastian Scofield, Michael Volkmar, Alex Besson, and Smith lead the Sequoits all coming in with times below 18:05 scoring 35 points between them. This was the first race for sophomore Alex Barbarise who injured himself and couldn’t participate in the first two races of the season. Barbarise came in with a time of 21:14 and is looking to set a personal record at the next race.

“To be honest I felt like I started off too fast, but I finished strong,” Barbarise said.

The boys’ next race is in Peoria for the Boys and Girls Cross Country Invitational on September 9th at Detweiler Park.
