After coming off of a win at Wauconda on Saturday, December 2, the Antioch boys basketball team was looking to get their fifth overall win and continue the undefeated streak for the start of the season as they traveled to Grant on Wednesday, December 6 for their second conference game of the season.

As the game began, the Bulldogs came out with numerous three-pointers to start the game that Antioch’s offense could not match. After the first quarter, Grant was beating Antioch 26-10. At the half the Sequoits were down 24 points and the Bulldogs were on pace to put up 100 points. The game was no different from then on with Grant scoring 28 points in the 2nd half and winning the game 76-52.

The Sequoits were lead by junior point guard Daniel Filippone with 18 points, junior guard Austin Andrews with 10 points and junior point guard Michael Balagot with 7 points. Antioch’s defense struggled guarding the three point shooters and getting rebounds.

“There was a lot of ball movement, they worked good as a team and we didn’t do a good enough job on switching screens, also we need to communicate as a team better and we need to focus on the other teams offense,” Andrews said.

As Antioch plans to play Grayslake Central on Saturday, December 9, they are looking to be more focused and talk more on the court.

Come support your Sequoits as they play their first home game against the Rams.
