The boys varsity basketball team took on the Grant Bulldogs on Jan. 13 and came away with a victory. The Sequoits came out ready to play. They lead the first half scoring 26 points with the Bulldogs right behind them with score of 21.

“It’s good that we came out with energy tonight. I think that’s what we strive for but it doesn’t always happen,” said head coach Jim White.

During the third quarter, Grant kept it close by going on a scoring streak. The Bulldogs hit key 3 pointers and gained the lead. However, the Sequoit defense would not be beaten so easily. Josh Bell hit a 3 pointer with 2 seconds left in the third gaining the lead over grant 44-43.  “I felt a little relieved, but I was really fired up. It felt great because that put us up going into the 4th quarter, so it was a big momentum changer for us,” said Josh Bell

After many chances for both teams, Antioch won the game 60-56.  Kyle Gofron and Josh Bell led the way in scoring 15 and 17 points, respectively.

“We kind of weathered that storm of them knocking down some pretty big shots, we played some pretty good defense,” said White. “This game was bigger than Lakes.”
