At 10:08 pm PT in Las Vegas, Nevada, a shooter killed over 58 people and injured hundreds. The fatality occurred at the Route 91 Harvest Festival- a music festival hosting country artists from all over. Police stated the gunman shot into a crowd of over 22,000 concertgoers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel while country singer Jason Aldean was performing. The gunshots lasted for about 10-15 minutes without stopping.

The shooter was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. When the police breached his hotel room, they found him unconscious, coming to the conclusion that he took his life after the shooting. The police also discovered 10 rifles scattered in the hotel room.

Sophomore Adrian Ruiz has been negatively affected from the impact of the attack.

“I thought it was very idiotic for someone that self-centered to do that to a group of people,” Ruiz said. “He wasn’t thinking of anything at the moment, I never understand why people have to do this kind of stuff to innocent people.”

This fatality has been named the deadliest in modern United States history. This attack just passed the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando in 2016, which killed 49 people.
