The princess diamond cruise ship was put under quarantine as they found a case of the COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus.

According to TIME magazine the estimated 1,000 crew members still left on the coronavirus-stricken cruise ship will soon be moving from their decks below the waterline. This was where they shared rooms, bathrooms and dining areas during the first quarantine.

The empty passenger cabins will be sanitized and decontaminated, there they will complete another 14-day quarantine. Crew members left aboard the ship will then be assigned individual rooms for their own safety.

As the crew members continue to stay abroad more members have reported severe symptoms common to the coronavirus. Those who have come forward are being told to isolate themselves in their cabin.

“Though the risk to our guests and crew is low, our medical experts are coordinating closely with international health authorities and have activated enhanced screening, prevention and control procedures for our ships to keep guests and crew safe.” The Princess Diamond Cruise Line Said.

Despite Princess Cruise’s best efforts to contain the virus, there have been at least 50 crew members who have contracted the coronavirus. As the crew members stay aboard more reports of severe illness and coronavirus symptoms have been reported.

According to the New York Times, of the 3,700 passengers aboard the cruise ship 621 presented of the virus also an additional 79 possible cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed despite the two week quarantine that the passengers and crew members have endured.

Those infected have already been taken to nearby hospitals. Those affected by the virus were taken off the boat earlier this week and placed at a 14-day quarantine at military bases in the United States.

Now that the passengers and crew members are being treated it has been confirmed that the Princess Cruise Line had contained and still contains over half of the coronavirus cases outside of China.
