First Round of the NFL Draft

Although the NHL and MLB seasons are still in full swing, sports fans everywhere tuned in last night to watch the draft for the upcoming NFL season.

The first round of the draft was last night, April 28. It began with the Los Angeles Rams having the first pick. They drafted quarterback Jared Goff, one of the most pro-ready passers that this draft had to offer.

Next up were the Philadelphia Eagles, who chose Carson Wentz. Wentz joined the Eagles as a No. 3 Quarterback, behind Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel. Nonetheless, the Eagles still paid a heavy amount of money to snatch Wentz.

Following the Eagles were the San Diego Chargers, who chose Joey Bosa. Although Bosa is a defensive end, he will have to convert to outside linebacker for the Chargers’ 3-4 scheme.

The next draft was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys. Senior and Cowboys fan Matt Adams was pleased with the Cowboys’ first selection.

“They got Ezekiel Elliot, and he’s a running back and is very good,” Adams said. “So, I’m very happy the Cowboys got him.”

Among the rest of last night’s drafts, Chicago chose outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, Green Bay selected defensive lineman Kenny Clark and Denver picked quarterback Paxton Lynch. With the remaining rounds of the draft still incomplete, it is too early for fans to be sure of how their teams will fare this season.
