Identity+Theft+Prevention+Seminar

On November 14, from 10am to noon, state representative Sheri Jesiel, Illinois Attorney General’s Office and 61 District Residents will host a free seminar for residents to learn how to protect themselves from identity theft. This seminar will be held at 37850 N. Rt59, Lake Viilla, which is the Lake Villa Township West Campus.

According to Jiesel, “there are approximately 15.4 million victims of identity theft in the United States every year; the majority of victims are senior citizens.”

The point of this seminar is to bring attention to the increasing threat of identity theft. Recently, many high profile data breaches have struck multiple high profile companies, potentially leaking their customers’ personal information to the public, putting them at risk of having their information stolen.

During the seminar, professionals from Illinois Attorney General’s office will show people how to not become a victim of identity theft with lessons on how to safeguard their credit card, social security number and other sensitive information so their information will not fall into the hands of criminals. Multiple handouts and legislative brochures will be handed out during the event so people can gather more information on how to stay safe.

To RSVP to attend this seminar please call Rep. Jesiel’s office at (847) 395-8000 or email [email protected]. Visit www.SheriJesiel.com for more information.
