As the National Football League draft quickly approaches, fans are getting excited for the upcoming season and ready to root for their teams. The 81st NFL Draft starts on today and runs through Saturday, April 30.

Chicago will host the draft for the second year in a row because last year’s event was so successful. There are a total of at least 3,500 players to choose from during the draft, including 50 underclassmen who will leave college early to attempt to be in the NFL. During all seven rounds of the draft last year, only 256 players will be selected, a seven percent ratio.

The NFL draft attracts both professionals and fans alike.

“It is so cool to see prospects have a chance to shine in the league, and show how good they are,” junior John Howe said. “Also, how we as football players can look up to them.”
