Back in the 1980’s, the favorite boxing and romance film “Rocky” was released. There are now six “Rocky” films to choose from, so one is bound to be a favorite for everyone. 2015 will see the release of a new boxing dynasty, featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. It is expected to evoke a roller coaster of emotions.

In the film, Gyllenhaal plays Billy Hope, a lightweight boxing champion who is on top of the world. After struggling to get to the where he finally has all he could ever want—including with a loving family—an unexpected shrewd encounter with an enemy of his past results in the loss of his wife (McAdams).

Gyllenhaal tries to get back on his feet after the tragic death of his wife, but can’t seem to keep it together. As a result of poor grieving of his wife, he gets his daughter taken away. At this point everything he ever wanted slipped out of his hands.

“Southpaw” is expected to be a heartbreaking tale of a man trying to get back on his feet and into the ring after losing the love if his life. It will be released in theaters July 24, and is guaranteed to tug on every heart string.
