In another difficult race between schools, Antioch Community High School sophomore Tessa Furlong and senior Danny Ressler led the way for the girls and boys Varsity cross country teams. On Saturday, Oct. 4, both teams went against competitive schools, such as Warren Township High School, Grayslake Central High School and Lakes Community High School, during their own Hardland Invite.

Furlong was the first Sequoit to finish the race and placed 15th out of 77 runners with a time of 20:42. This gave ACHS the push to finish in 9th place out of 13 teams. Behind her were teammates Alexis Lind, freshman, in 49th place and Emily Holmes, sophomore, in 51st place.

Ressler finished in 10th place out of 83 runners, being the first Sequoit to cross the line. He had a time of 16:48 and led the boys cross country team to a 5th place finish out of 11 teams. Soon followed senior Zach Besson in 24th and senior Bogdan Anghel in 40th place.

Both Furlong and Ressler have been top finishers in their races and are competitors to look out for in the post season.

The ACHS boys and girls Varsity cross country teams both compete at Vernon Hills High School on Monday, Oct. 6, at 4:45 p.m.
