REVIEW: “Anyone But You”

The new rom-com movie “Anyone But You” released in theaters on Dec. 22, 2023. The movie was a huge hit, and one of the best rated rom-coms in the past few years.
“Anyone But You” movie poster.

Anyone But You, a rom-com similar to classics such as “10 Things I Hate About You” and “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, is getting traction like those films.

This movie is a fresh romantic comedy that has viewers on their toes as they anticipate what is going to happen next. The many accidents the main characters encountered, and the surplus of comedic moments the love interests have while trying to figure each other out, keeps the movie lighthearted and interesting.

Anyone But You is a classic and beloved enemies to lovers trope; main characters, Bea and Ben, played by Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, respectively meet a second time following a rough introduction, there is an immediate connection between the two strangers, but they end up hating each other as everything goes wrong.

Bea’s sister and Ben’s friend are getting married, forcing the pair to spend the week together in Australia as they prepare for the wedding. Bea and Ben both come up with a plan to fake a date, as both their exes are there. Over time, their plan starts to become a reality, and they end up falling in love with each other.

“Anyone But You” is anything but boring; the soundtrack, the superb casting and the chemistry between the two main characters never fails to keep it entertaining.

Anyone But Youallows viewers to go through many stages of emotions, ranging from heartbreak, romance, tragedies, and lots of entertainment. This movie is one of the best rom coms that is still new to theaters. “Anyone But Youis definitely a movie worth watching.
