The Antioch Sequoits varsity boys basketball team took on the Westosha Central Falcons at home on Wednesday, December 13.

The Sequoits lost 55-36 in the end, but they played hard throughout the entire game. Westosha Central took the lead early and the Sequoits were not able to turn the tables and make a comeback.

At halftime, the score was 34-16 with Westosha in the lead. By the end of the third quarter, the Sequoits closed the gap by a couple points due to junior guard Dan Filippone’s scoring late in the game. However, it was not enough to take the Falcons down in the end.

The Sequoits’ 36 points came from main scorers junior point guard Daniel Filippone with 11 points, senior forward Branden Gallimore with 9 points and senior guard Andrew Hare with 6 points.  The Sequoits had 10 other points from senior point guard Peter Boeh, junior point guard Robert Christiansen, junior forward Jack Gillespie and junior forward Ben Nauman.

Even though Antioch ended up taking a loss, the team played hard and tried their best.

“We gave it our all and we will get them next time,” junior Kevin Tebbe said.

The Sequoits will play again on December 28, in a tournament at Teutopolis High School.
