Last night, the girls varsity basketball team played a hard game against the Grant Bulldogs but fell short with a score of 41-21. Despite the loss, the team fought to keep the game close, playing a strong first half in which the Sequoits only trailed by six with a score of 23-17 at the start of the third quarter.

However, the Sequoits’ shots did not fall in the second half, with the team only scoring a total of four points in both the third and fourth quarters.

“Our defense is okay, but our offense struggles,” senior Olivia Ori said. “We [need to] do a better job of not getting panicked into rushing the ball or throwing it away.”

Although the girls have yet to win their first game, Ori believes that, despite this loss, the team took a step in the right direction toward improving as a whole.

“Tonight’s game [was] not the outcome that we wanted, but I think that we worked really hard and did a lot of good things to improve our game,” Ori said.

The team is hoping to focus on finding more opportunities to score while continuing to give the most effort possible in future games. The girls’ next game is against the Grayslake Central Rams on Tuesday, December 5 at home; come support the girls as they look for their first win of the season.
